The importance of sleep

Sleep helps maintain functions in the body, focuses the mind, and helps regulate our emotions.

If you've every missed a night of sleep you know how hard it is to get up and stay focused the next day! You not only feel like your body is dragging but you might also notice you are forgetful, you can't focus on simple tasks and conversations, your appetite might be off, and your emotions seem to be all over the place. These are all related to disturbed sleep.

Why is sleep important?

Researchers are studying how sleep and the lack of sleep impact our health. The findings are startling! Poor sleep habits are associated with greater risk of:

  • cardiovascular disease
  • type 2 diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • depression
  • obesity
